Success is right under your nose!
What does it take to be successful in life?
Before you can answer that question, I should probably define success, because success can certainly mean different things to different people.
I define success as having healthy relationships with your family, having physical health and having enough money so that your money is working for you and you are not working for your money.
Success is a lifestyle. A lifestyle that has very few limitations. You can go where you want, when you want. A lifestyle that very few people enjoy.
So what does it really take to have that kind of lifestyle? Well it might come as surprise to some that probably 90% of your success in life will come as a result of your mental attitude. As Zig Ziglar used to say, “Your attitude will determine your altitude!”
Because this blog is for network marketing leaders (and for those who want to become one), I am going to reference one of the leaders in this industry.
One of my mentors is Mike Dillard. In the first book of his that I read, Magnetic Sponsoring (a must read for anyone participating in this industry) he says that people are attracted to leaders. People are attracted to people that give value.
If you go to a big hotel to attend a network marketing company meeting and you see that guy up on the stage, that guy (or gal) is a leader and people are attracted to him. That is why he is so successful. In order for you to become successful like that guy, you have to become that guy.
When I first read that, that was a profound statement for me. It was profound because it made so much sense. I got it. But, there was a problem. How was I going to become that guy? I was broke, I did not know anything and I certainly wasn’t adding any value.
Well, what I have discovered is that while much of your success in this business will come from the skills that you acquire in marketing, prospecting, copywriting, etc I would say that the majority of your success will come as a result of having the proper mindset.
You must have the proper mindset as it relates to money, abundance, prosperity, health and wealth.
The funny thing for me is that I ignored that advice for so long because I thought that I already understood it. I had tons of books and tape sets on personal development in my basement. But, that was the problem, they were in my basement and I wasn’t studying them. For that reason, there should be no wonder why I wasn’t achieving the kind of success I wanted.
The discovery…
The realization that personal development was the missing link for me led to a discovery. A discovery that was right under my nose!
The path that led to my discovery began with a book by Asara Lovejoy called “The One Command“. In her book, she asserts that we can shortcut the accomplishment of our desires by speaking directly to our subconscious mind at the theta brain level.
With out going into too much detail (you will have to read the book for that), there are 4 levels of brain activity. Beta (14-3o hz), Alpha (8-13.9 hz), Theta (4-7.9 hz) and Delta (.1-3.9 hz)
The highest level is the Beta brain level. This is the conscious mind, the one that you are in now. However, the 2 deepest levels (Theta and Delta) are where your subconscious mind resides. In her book, she takes you through an exercise to take you into Theta so that you can speak directly to that part of your consciousness. When you do so, you bypass all the filters of the the conscious mind (the filters are what tell you that you can’t accomplish what you want) and speak directly to the subconscious. This is the shortcut for achieving want you desire.
The problem I had with the book was because I had not been practicing any kind of meditation like the author of the book has for so long, I found it difficult to get into the Theta state using the exercise. I am not saying that it does not work, however because I was not practiced in the methods, I found it difficult.
However, that experience reminded me of something that I already had in my library. About 10 years ago I had purchased some CDs from Centerpointe Research called Holosync. Using aural technology, the Holosync CD’s take you into an Alpha state just by listening to them with headphones.
My Holosync Experience, thus far…
Since, I already owned the CDs, I began using them again. My experience thus far has been good. When I first started using them, I experienced something strange. It was almost like a tension in my forehead. However, it was not like a headache. It was different. That feeling went away after the first few days. The main thing that I have noticed that I am really excited about is an increase in energy.
I had really been having a problem with keeping my energy level up. It gets so bad that if I take a long drive, I have a difficult time doing that without an external stimulant like “5 Hour Workday”. I don’t like putting drugs into my body, but it was do that or fall asleep at the wheel and crash. However, since I have been listening to the CDs, I feel like I have a lot more energy and I am really curious about what my next long distance driving experience will be like.
The next thing that I have noticed, although more difficult to quantify is my attitude has definitely improved. I feel more powerful and confident. I feel like I can accomplish much more. Like I said, that aspect is difficult to quantify.
Holosync is definitely a hi-tech solution. But, if you know me I a little bit of a techno-geek (ok, a lot
); there has been an improvement and I doubt that I could have seen some of the results that I am seeing with out it.
